(6 ) Horizontal lifelines may, depending on their geometry and angle of sag, be subjected to greater loads than the impact load imposed by an attached component. Also, to be stressed are the importance of inspections prior to use, the limitations of the equipment, and unique conditions at the worksite which may be important in determining the type of system to use. Of uppermost importance is the reduction in strength caused by certain tie-offs (such as using knots, tying around sharp edges, etc.) and maximum permitted free fall distance. Employers and employees should become familiar with the material in this Appendix, as well as manufacturer's recommendations, before a system is used. Careless or improper use of the equipment can result in serious injury or death. This should include the following: application limits proper anchoring and tie-off techniques estimation of free fall distance, including determination of deceleration distance, and total fall distance to prevent striking a lower level methods of use and inspection and storage of the system. Employees must be trained in the safe use of the system. Thorough employee training in the selection and use of personal fall arrest systems is imperative. Components for which no specific guidelines are given in this appendix (e.g., joints, base connections, components made with other materials, and components with other dimensions) must also be designed and constructed in such a way that the completed system meets the requirements of § 1926.502. However, the guidelines do not provide all the information necessary to build a complete system, and the employer is still responsible for designing and assembling these components in such a way that the completed system will meet the requirements of § 1926.502(b) (3), (4), and (5). An employer may use these guidelines as a starting point for designing guardrail systems. This appendix serves as a non-mandatory guideline to assist employers in complying with these requirements. The standard requires guardrail systems and components to be designed and built to meet the requirements of § 1926.502 (b) (3), (4), and (5). Non-Mandatory Guidelines for Complying with § 1926.502(b) This is also the case with roofs which are sloped toward or away from the roof center, as shown in Example B.Īppendix B to Subpart M of Part 1926 - Guardrail Systems Example A shows that on a simple rectangular roof, width is the lesser of the two primary overall dimensions. In all examples, the dimension selected to be the width of an area is the lesser of the two primary dimensions of the area, as viewed from above. Some examples show “correct” and “incorrect” subdivisions of irregularly shaped roofs divided into smaller, regularly shaped areas. Section views or elevation views are shown where appropriate. Each example in the appendix shows a roof plan or plans and indicates where each roof or roof area is to be measured to determine its width. Section 1926.501(b)(10) allows the use of a safety monitoring system alone as a means of providing fall protection during the performance of roofing operations on low-sloped roofs 50 feet (15.25 m) or less in width. I appreciate all your knowledge and wit.(1 ) This appendix serves as a guideline to assist employers complying with the requirements of § 1926.501(b)(10). Inspired by Strim's use of the goldcurse dagger and two chain attacks to turn literally *everything* to gold based on a DC 100 fort save, I thought "they're gold now, how do I melt them down to make SHINIES?" The answer? My very own Easy Bake oven, aka a Fiend Pact Warlock. The Pawn Shop takes your Gold and keeps it under 'lock and chainzzzz (nod to Strimtom)
